Shepard Smith leaves Fox News, takes facts with him: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/10/11/shepard-smith-leaves-fox-news-takes-facts-with-him/
By virtue of his long tenure at Fox News and his relatable TV persona, Shep Smith was able to carve out, essentially, an hour of honesty at Fox News. It's an accident of TV news history that the network won't likely replicate.
In the hour that Shep Smith once occupied, Fox News will broadcast "Fox News Reporting." Among the anchors will be Trace Gallagher and Jon Scott.
"Suddenly I got hit by a subway train," says Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts, referring to the announcement of Shep Smith that he'd done his last broadcast.
"This is my last newscast here," Shep Smith just said on Fox News. "It's been an honor and my pleasure." He expresses hope that "journalists and journalism" will thrive. "Whoa," says Neil Cavuto upon taking the handoff.
Announcement from Fox News: Shepard Smith is stepping down from his role as chief news anchor. This afternoon's show was his last. Fissures between news and opinion at Fox News are for real.
Here's an explosive and edifying piece by former @NBCNEWS journalist @RichMcHugh https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/10/how-nbc-killed-its-weinstein-story It cuts through all the noise in the dispute about the NBC News-Weinstein nonstory, with one killer point. 1/
