Brazil’s attack on Greenwald mirrors the US case against Assange, argues @mathewi https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/brazil-greenwald-assange.php
Looks like I have been copied on a mass email with open CC's including @brianstelter, @shani_o, @daveweigel, @robpegoraro, and @BuzzFeedBen. What shall we talk about in the reply all, everyone?
Important piece from @mathewi "The case against [Glenn] Greenwald happens to be almost a carbon copy of the Justice Department’s argument in the affidavit it filed against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange last year..." https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/brazil-greenwald-assange.php
Worth noting this is basically the same argument the Justice Department wants to use against Julian Assange — receiving leaks makes you part of a criminal conspiracy etc. https://twitter.com/Sulliview/status/1219686564848177157

Yes, and see Brazil federal police statement here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jan/21/glenn-greenwald-charged-cybercrime-brazil

I believe they argued that he assisted, not just received. Key wrinkle.
So after all the hype around the New York Times endorsement process, it decided to endorse two people at the same time? That makes zero sense. The whole point of the endorsement is to pick the person you think is best, no? They might as well have endorsed all of them

But they did a great job of opening the process so we could see how the indecision works first hand 😂
