And @FCC will seek comment on creating a safe harbor for providers that block robocalls based on whether a call is authenticated.
The agency also proposes to mandate implementation of caller ID authentication if major voice service providers don’t voluntarily implement by the end of 2019.
The ruling clarifies that providers may offer the customers the option to opt-in to tools that block calls from numbers not included in a consumer’s “white lists”.
The FCC has ruled that voice service providers may, as the default, block unwanted calls based on reasonable call analytics, as long as their customers are informed & have the opportunity to opt out of the blocking.
